Highlands

The area around Landmannalaugar is carved by endless canyons.The very soft volcanic rock weathers easily by water so in just a few thousand year the are is like a maze of colorful patters of ridges and canyons in every color imaginable. This area of Iceland has also the most colorful vegetation. In the lower left corner you can see a very green moss common around creeks near Landmannalaugar.
